Online rehearsals start Monday 4th Jan 7.30 for an exciting year of singing ahead!

Our online rehearsals start again at 7.30 on Monday January 4th. Henley Choral Society is a non-auditioned choir of over 100 members. Throughout the periods of lockdown and restrictions Henley Choral Society has continued to sing and rehearse online, with over 60 members gathering at 7.30 on Monday evenings each week. If you would like to join us please call Wendy Hawkins, Membership Secretary on 01491 576929.
Chairman of Henley Choral Society Tim Wilson explains: ‘Musical Director Peter Asprey has provided a fantastic programme to keep us all singing and enjoying music together. We’ve had interviews with professional musicians giving us an insight into their world, recitals from our wonderful regular accompanists for both HCS – David Smith, and the Henley Youth Choirs, Anita D’Attellis. We’ve also made a summer audio recording, provided a wonderful free concert on Mill Meadows with Orpheus Sinfonia and finally have put together a special video Christmas card of carols to say ‘thank you’ to our very special town and community of Henley-on-Thames which can be seen here
In 2021 Henley Choral Society will continue to rehearse online on Mondays at 7.30 until we can return to a form of safe distanced live rehearsals. We will ensure that these adhere to UK Government advice and our own safety assessments. In the Spring we will be rehearsing a repertoire of short pieces under the title ‘Around the World in 40 minutes’ from composers as varied as Palestrina to Elgar, Rachmaninov to Duke Ellington.
All proposed events subject to latest UK Government advice and legislation:
Spring Concert, St Marys 7.30pm on 27th March 2021
Brahms Requiem, Christchurch 7.30pm on 26th June 2021
